milk (like products), it does a body good

we (my brother & i) had had soy milk a few times before & for some reason my brother wanted to try almond milk. i said: "sure. but get vanilla flavored." glad that we did. the liquid is grey-ish & thick looking, but strangely enough it didn't feel thick while drinking it. it didn't really taste like almonds (i never eat them, so i'm very unsure) and not much like vanilla either.

then he said to get rice milk to try (it was actually rice drink. as all of these things are). which we did, in vanilla. and was glad we did. this one defiantly tasted like rice & since i hate plain rice you can imagine how thrilled i was. the vanilla flavoring didn't help at all and i actually checked the label a few times to make sure i hadn't gotten the wrong one.

I'm lactose intolerant, so I've used all three of those (unsweetened) as milk substitutes for cooking, and I've used them vanilla- or chocolate-flavored for making fruit smoothies, but I simply can't imagine drinking any of them straight from the container. They just don't look appetizing at all.

I'm lactose intolerant and my son is milk allergic so we've never done much dairy around here except for my love of cheese and sour cream. He started on soy and when he was old enough to want to experiment, he tasted a bunch of different alternatives and settled on the rice milk. I didn't find it rice flavored at all, but thought it was too watery for me. He's not much of a milk drinker of any kind any more as he's 20 now, but still prefers the rice milk. With the DH's new dietary requirements, I bought him some coconut and almond milks to try for his breakfast cereal and in smoothies. Otherwise, he doesn't drink much in the way of milk either.

I think Silk brand is the best of all the brands and it's pretty much the only one I buy. And I was laughing as I read your post because I was having kashi and soy milk as I was reading it.
