while sifting through youtube i found some of a michael shanks gold panel at armageddon expo 2010
part 1 part 2 part 3 part 4 part 5
and i found out some interesting things.
1. MS cooks at home (his wife's idea of cooking is picking which take-out menu they'll order from) and he bakes. my first thought was i bet he makes a mean souffle. (i'll take random SG-1 references for $100. you get bonus SG-1 geek points if you know which)
2. there's a small chance he'll be on hawaii five-o. brad turner (i think that was the name) directed some SG-1 episodes and several episodes of 24 (MS credits him for his role on that sow, the guy claims otherwise) well, this guy is now directing episodes of hawaii five-o & might be putting in his name in for something.
3. he didn't know mega snake was that bad when he agreed to do it. after reading the script on the plane he found out just how bad it was. he tried to get out of it, but was told that his verbal agreement was a contract. on the plus side, it did get him whatever he needed to work in the u.s. one wonders what he thought the movie was about.
4. CSI approached him for a small role in their sci-fi episode because they wanted a recognizable sci-fi actor, but they only take people with their green cards. MS doesn't want a green card, just wants to work in the u.s. but he got work on CSI; miami, so either it's a different production team or the clanged their policies since then.
5. treasure of the grand canyon (or whatever it was) was better "on paper" that what showed up on film. the filmed some of it in a tin building near the interstate with 18-wheelers going by. at one point in the story 8 natives were supposed to be chasing them, but they only had 2. if you look closely you can see the same one get taken down a few times.
6. film actors don't always do well on tv. it's usually the film schedule that gets them. and if they do survive, the tv show uses music video style camera moves to cover so-so acting. (like CSI: miami)
7. the reason SG-1 switched from P-90s to other guns for seasons 9 & 10 is the military was using the blanks made for it to train their people. MS said daniel never had a big gun, just a "little beretta". true, he didn't have a big, honkin' gun like jack used in allegiance, but he did juse bigger guns than the baretta. example #1 example #2 example #3 example #4 i rest my case.
