archersangelAO3 had done all they could to combat the spam bots; restricting guest comments, implementing verification checks, allowing authors to lock comments to registered users only, but the things still kept popping up.
Links to weight loss and erectile dysfunction medications, links to porn and cam girls. So much porn and so many cam girls. Websites that promised earnings of $6,000 a month, or easy ways to get crypto. UPS/FEDEX/U.S. Post office insisting the recipient had a package that could not be delivered. That was a new one. It seemed to AO3 that for every bot they blocked, three more started posting in their place.
AO3 was unsure about that account that was created just yesterday, and had already left comments of LOL! on 50 vaguely funny stories. That one could be a bot, or someone who was just awkward and didn't know what else to post. They would have to keep an eye on that one.
