holiday list

as seen everywhere;
Step One
- Make a post (public, friends locked, filtered...whatever you're comfortable with) to yourLJ DW. The post should contain your list of 10 holiday wishes. The wishes can be anything at all, from simple and fandom-related ("I'd love a Snape/Hermione icon that's just for me") to medium ("I wish for _____ on DVD") to really big ("All I want for Christmas is a new car/computer/house/TV.") The important thing is, make sure these wishes are things you really, truly want.
- If you wish for real life things (not fics or icons), make sure you include some sort of contact info in your post, whether it's your address or just your email address where Santa (or one of his elves) could get in touch with you.
- Also, make sure you post some version of these guidelines in yourLJ DW, or link to this post (it'll be public) so that the holiday joy will spread.
Step Two
- Surf around your friendslist (or friends friends, or just random journal.
And now here's the important part:
- If you see a wish you can grant, and it's in your heart to do so, make someone's wish come true. Sometimes someone's trash is another's treasure, and if you have a leather jacket you don't want or a gift certificate you won't use--or even know where you could get someone's dream purebred Basset Hound for free--do it.
You needn't spend money on these wishes unless you want to. The point isn't to put people out, it's to provide everyone a chance to be someone else's holiday elf--to spread the joy. Gifts can be made anonymously or not--it's your call.
There are no rules with this project, no guarantees, and no strings attached. Just...wish, and it might come true. Give, and you might receive. And you'll have the joy of knowing you made someone's holiday special."
not realy comfortable asking for stuff from strangers. so here's some stuff you can do for me this hoilday season, if you do any of this, please let me know in the comments. thanks.
1. if you have books that you don't want or need & can't get rid of them through craig's list or bookswap, give them to your local library. or even sign up for booksforsolders.
2. they need more than books too. so if you know someone serving or a friend of a friend is serving, send them a care package this year. or encourage your church/temple/whatever to start gathering stuff & send it. you <i>need</i> to have someone over there to send it to though, the days of addressing stuff to "any solder" are long gone.
3. go to the literacy site & click once per day (plus 5 others) or buy what they have (x-mas is coming) the stuff you buy supports the causes.
4. i'd like a icon and/or banner with this pic of archer, this one of kirk, this pic of picard, this one of sisko & this pic of janeway with the words; oh captain, my captain. white words on black or black words on white.
5. i'd like someone tell me how to post images in my DW profile.
6. read; a book (even a trashy romance) a magazine, newspaper, whatever. something besides the internet.
7. could someone make hulu.com keep up stargate: sg-1 past may 15, 2010? i'm only half-way through season 3!
8. those who were perfume/cologne do those who don't a big favor, ease off some. many of you walk around in a cloud of the stuff & it's killing us. no more than 4 squirts total & please don't add the matching body lotion or powder to that either. the french invented perfume to cover up the stink of their unwashed selves, if you bathe you don't need a lot. less is more, OK?
9. spread some peace. nothing major; tell someone to have a nice day or don't honk & flip off the guy who cuts you off in traffic. complement someone on their shirt even if you think it's hideous. that sort of thing. it wont be easy, if it was easy it would be done by everyone.
10. a number 10 for this list. LOL!

You post images by writing a little html in the Bio box. Use the img tag:
<img src="http://example.com/yourimage.jpg" alt="What it is" />
The address can be wherever your image is, and the alt is alternate text in case the image isn't displayed for some reason. img has no closing tag, so that's why the closing slash is at the end.
Here is a better explanation in case mine wasn't too good.
