i was thinking about my most recent disappointing reading experience and the point that one decides that they're enjoying reading any given book. so i thought: make a poll.

My habit of late when I go to the library is to sit down with the books I'm considering taking home, and to start reading each one. Sometimes there's a horrible clunker in the stack. So I can toss that one onto the book cart for reshelving, and go find something better!

I used to keep reading to the bitter end. Now I move on.

I don't skip ahead to find out what happened, because if I'm bailing on the book, I don't care. If I care, I don't bail.

I couldn't answer the second one because it varies. I recently read Spin State which was really tough for me to get into, but I ended up liking a lot of aspects of. On the other hand, I have The Killing Moon due back to the library today and I've barely made it through the first chapter. I feel bad for abandoning it, but forcing myself through it seems antithetical to the whole reason I picked up the book in the first place.

it varies for me too. that why i made it so people could pick more than one.

it used to be that i rarely quit reading a book & moved on, but now that i've been renting them from booksfree, i kind of want to get them shipped back & get the next ones ASAP.
