Whenever Fritz is a little bit too critical of her writing, Jo thinks it.

Whenever Laurie receives the bills from dressmakers & milliners that Amy "forgets" to mention, he thinks it.

Both Jo & Laurie are sure the other knows, but dare not show the slightest hint of this to each other.
