random thoughts; book & other

archersangelin the time since i heard that elizabeth peters had passed way i started thinking of re-reading the amelia peabody series again. this would be my third go-a-round on them. (except for the last one which i rented from booksfree a couple of months ago)
after seeing the beginning of harry potter & the sorcerer's stone (i originally typed philosopher's stone) the other night i'm considering re-reading the harry potter series. this would be the third go-a-round for that too.
seeing everyone's list or number count for books read in 2014, i was wondering how may i read. so i guesstimated by counting the ones on my past order list from booksfree (38) & guessing how many i read from home (10-14) puts me right around the 50s range. which seems to be my early average. a bit lower than when i kept track in 2010.
i found a new pet-peeve; foreign words or phrases in a book that aren't translated. or worse, some are & some aren't. it would be nice to know what they mean & not have to guess, because i don't always get to the internet when i'm reading. i keep telling myself to write down stuff that i want to look up, but i rarely do.
in non-book news; the 3-sentence fic thing is still going on. i forgot about it for a while & now it's up to 32 pages! (i think an end point could be decided on)
BTW i think some people are confused over the use of the slash mark. i thought it meant a paring or a couple, but people seem to think it means just two characters to write about.
