the problem with lip-balm

so a month or so ago i got a new thing of lib balm (blistex 5 star lip protection. if you're wondering) & i was determined to try to use the thing up before at least the end of the year. (to my knowledge, i never had used one up completely) so i was putting it on 3-4 times per day and after a few days or a week of this i noticed that my lips were feeling strange, kind of dry. i decided that maybe i was using too much and didn't put any on for a few days.
it later occurred to me that this could be the reason people get addicted to lip balm. i heard there's some facebook thing for people who love the stuff & some people go though like a tube (or more) a week!
then i recalled a story on yahoo (i think that's where it was) that said that some of the stuff you use to help with whatever issue you have with hair and stuff will eventually lead to the problem you're trying to deal with. the only one i remember is that volumizing shampoos & conditioners will eventually leave your hair flat. i think that's what's called ironic.
