I gave up on Grey's Anatomy a couple of years ago, after listening to Izzy saying something that was supposed to be really deep (something like: 'we all need each other and have to stick together because that's what life is really all about'), but was really very trite and saccharine.

And I asked myself, "Why am I watching this?"

So I stopped. I haven't missed it at all and will never catch up with it on DVD, etc.

I'm sure there have been other shows, but that's the one that stands out.

I drop shows all the time. There are only very few shows I've stayed with until the end. Stargate SG-1, The X-Files (unfortunately *bitter*)...um...that's all I can think of right now.

Definitely given up on a show! There's so few that are good from beginning, all the way to the end. *sigh*

I could almost blame it on a short attention span

I tend to drop shows for three main reason.

1 - I just get bored of it. Either it's just a 'rinse, lather, repeat' style of story telling, or whatever shiny bit that kept me going went away.

2 - Lack of time. I work full time and go to night school, so my entertainment choices right now boil down to fluff. Stuff I can pick up and put down quickly, or more loose canons where I can drop in easily at any point in canon (comics and sitcoms are good for this.)

3 - Spoilers. The growing misogyny of Supernatural, not to mention the inability of a Black person to stay alive or good on the show - that I'd heard about from fans and non-fans alike, pretty much had me dropping the show mid-season 1. A lot of the crap that SGA's producers were pulling, like making Ronan's actor wear a wig of dreds because he didn't look "alien" enough (and again, their brand of misogyny.), pretty much made me lose interest in getting into the show past season 1. Ditto for Heroes' love of killing off anyone who isn't a Petrelli.

Part of that is tied into my lack of time too. Since I have less time, I don't want to spend it on shows that will wind up pissing me off more than entertaining me.
