wal-mart (and later super wal-mart) has been in my area since the early to mid 1990s, target since the 2000s sometime. i go to wal-mart on average once per week, i go to target maybe 2 or 3 times per year. i've bought all kinds of things from wal-mart; food, cleaning products, clothes & shoes. i buy few things from target; mostly food, once got some pillows & blankets. wal-mart is, let's face it, lower class. target is middle class. saw a thing on netflix about target that was on CNBC a few years ago that said they have trouble getting people to believe that the have competitive prices on things. well, i can believe that. they might be competitive on food, cleaning stuff & whatnot, but on clothes, shoes and household goods they don't seem to be. EDIT: also, target is so red. red shopping carts, red on the walls, giant red balls outside the store (WTF are those things for?) and the workers wear red shirts. (that must bug the star trek fans) frankly, all that red puts me off..

We have a local Walmart, but our nearest Target is 150 miles away, thru the mountains.
