an exchange over spoilers got me thinking about the possible time limit on them. is it OK to discuss a movie or tv show from 10 or 15 year "out in the open" when there's a chance that there's someone watching it (or wants to) who was too young at the time, or not even born yet, is reading it?
about 6 or 7 years ago i read some article an entertainment reporter wrote discussing the fact that he got an angry letter over a previous article were he talked about who killed laura palmer in twin peaks. the entertainment reporter thought he was safe from cries of "spoiler!" because by that time, the show had been off the air for over a decade. the person writing the letter had been too young to watch it at the time & was either watching it then or was planning to.
