i discovered this on netflix streaming. it's a six part BBC television series in where stephen fry travels across the U.S.(where he was almost born.) before fry was born, his father was offered a job at princeton university, but chose to turn it down.

since it's only six parts, several states get short-changed. mostly in the west & south, but a couple in new england too.

it's interesting to see the U.S. from an outsiders prospective, several of his reactions are similar to what i think i'd think in those situations. especially in the truck stop in nebraska, in particular when he came across a display of truck nuts.

as a trek fan is was nice to see a bit of star trek the experience in vegas, which closed not long after the filming of this.

P.S. he really didn't like miami & by extension floridia. it must be an english thing because ian fleming didn't like either as well. (read the traveling through FL part of live & let die, if you need proof.) of course, fleming aid he wasn't the one that had a problem with FL & america in general, it was james bond. (see the preface to 007 in new york in the short story collection octopussy and the living daylights)
