random NCIS: NOLA thoughts

i occasionally watch an episode of NCIS: NOLA as i come across them on TNT, or wherever, because i miss seeing scott bakula not much is interesting on tv.

the one i caught the other day was sic semper tyranis where members of different separatist groups get together & steal some missile for nefarious reasons. pride goes undercover, using an on-line identity developed by the ATF, within the group to stop them. at the end percy informs the team that other separatists know he was law enforcement & it's implied that they're looking to get him. this is never mentioned again.

it could be because that was the season where they wrote brody out & the idea just didn't come to fruition. i forget how many times that has happened on TV. like with the reetou on stargate: sg-1. they made it seem like we would see more from them, but never did.

also, this is the episode where pride gets the bar & said he wants to call it WCFA (with charity for all), but i can't find anything about that anywhere. they ended up calling it the tru tone, which was on the sign outside as dr. wade comes in.

in other ncis news; hawaii has been canceled. sidney is still on, but apparently it's just on paramount+ in australia. and there will be a series about young gibbs (from the original series) & his time as a young agent. and another spinoff with some characters from the original series.

CBS is milking a cash cow until the udders fall off.

I've been catching a few episodes of NCIS: NOLA too. I watched the original for years, and part of NCIS:LA, but having Bakula star was the big draw for me. But as I was watching, I realized the show had seasons I hadn't seen!

I think what happened was I thought it had been canceled, therefore wasn't looking for it, and didn't have it in the new DVR schedule as a result. I'm not 100% where I left off, but I think I'd like to start at the beginning since it's been so long. I'll let the DVR collect them, since there's a lot of channels doing binge airings.

I have zero interest in a show about Gibbs in his early days. Mainly because they'll mess up the time period, without a doubt. According to Wikipedia, Gibb joined NIS (the precursor to NCIS) in August 1991. Not only do you have to have a decent plot, but now you have to add in the difficulty of keeping the look right. Fashion, tech, etc.

Most definitely. I've heard they're talking about a spinoff with Tony and Ziva, and I'm not interested in that either. I liked Tony when they let us get past the chauvinistic persona, which we unfortunately only got glimpses of now and again. Never really cared for Ziva.

Don't worry about spoilers, I've already hit several major ones with my random views, including death of a major character. I was also intrigued to see they worked COVID-19 into the plotline, as a lot of shows just ignored it. Might be interesting in coming decades to see how people view the (fictional) depictions of a pandemic.

I went over to Wikipedia to look up about the Origins spin off, but I don't see any mention of the Tony and Ziva spin off. Maybe it's just a rumor, or at least not everyone has signed a contract yet?
