we're half-way there

both my brother & i have had our first COVID vaccines.

he called on april 19 (the first day we were eligible in this state) he got an appt. for april 20 in the morning. were were surprised, we thought it would be a few weeks. but we live in a sort of republican area, so maybe that's why?

it's the moderna one & done through a local clinic system, not a hospital or a pharmacy & where they administer it is in an old AT&T store in a failing mall. someone said it's kind of dystopian to get a vaccine against a global pandemic in an empty store. he said it really hurt & he made a yelp kind of noise and his pain was dismissed buy the nurses.

he got scheduled for his second does right there for may 18, but then they called later in the day to say they had no nurses scheduled to work that day & now it's may 17.

roughly 30 hours later he had a sore arm & was tired, that was all.

for me i called april 26 & got scheduled for april 28 in the morning, same vaccine & place. i went and in was a bit nervous, which got worse for a moment when i saw the syringes lined up. it was just a small pinch for me. i got scheduled for the second on on may 26. and 30+ hours later i just have a sore arm, mostly around the injection site, but sometime on the inner elbow area or the mid-forearm.

also, my brother got a sticker saying he got the shot & i didn't. i don't need a sticker, but it's nice to have one.
